Considering that 1.12 runs poorly on OS X (in particular on anything that has a Retina screen) and it’s also affected by a non-deterministic sound-related crash bug on several versions on Windows under certain configurations that haven’t ever been properly identified, would it not be a better idea to push 1.13.x into Early Access instead? Or is Early Access not an option for unpaid games?

That's also a possibility to look into. Hadn't thought of that. :hmm:

From an add-ons perspective, I doubt starting on 1.12 would end too well either. We'd probably end up with a bunch of new users wondering where all the add-ons went/why none of their save files work anymore. Any new add-on authors would then get stuck making the full 1.12 -> 1.14 transition after only a few months as well.

Just want to let everyone know that we've completed the relevant paperwork and have received our Steam AppID! :D Still no firm release date set, but we're getting there. Stay tuned over the next few months.

I am very excited to hear that wesnoth is going to be released on steam. So, is there a possibility of having steam release in 2017 ?
