looking for specific campaigns

Post by Violet-n-red »

terribly sorry if it was posted earlier, but i'm halfway through falling asleep at the moment and i want to post it before my head falls on the keyboard.
so, any escort missions where i can't just throw away unimportant units to cover my advancement/retreat? preferably maps inside campaign - i don't enjoy mindless slaughter without any sense or purpose.
any campaigns you can recommend that demonstrates times long before or after the ones depicted in most mainline campaigns? something like Under the Burning Sun. asking here because i don't know if there are any hubs for getting campaigns from other than in-game addon browser. aso, does campaigns have to be converted to each newer releae of the game? i mean, are there any great campaigns which requires me having older versions of Wesnoth?

found an answer to my first question - The Hammer of Thursagan has this kind of mission near the start. was really hard, was not able to complete it without my veterans. good thing is that all stayed alive and some even levelled.

Let's be honest, I'm surprised that nobody answered this question with a simple "Invasion from the Unknown and After the Storm". Basically, they are 2 non-mainline campaigns that are some kind of sequels to Under the Burning Suns.
Also, I would advise to play revansurik's dragon trilogy, which is supposed to happen a very long time before Haldric's life. The first one is "A Song of Fire".

Yes, they have to. From what I've seen, most good campaigns are ported to the next version, either by their initial creator, or by someone who liked it. So it's rare that a good campaign gets completely forgotten. But you can still search through the old server via http://add-ons.wesnoth.org/.

All in all, if you're searching for good campaigns, this post is a good summary: http://forum.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php? ... 92#p580615
