I learned about Wesnoth when I was taking a look through the games for Linspire available on CNR. The version they had there was out of date, and you could only run the tutorial, but it was interesting enough for me to fire up my laptop and get the Windows version. I've been spending a lot more time with my laptop lately! :D

Other - Curiously enough I found the game through a google search for 'random map generation AND algorithm' or something along those lines.
I found the game invitating and have been hooked ever since, even though I have yet to use (or study) the map generation option/code.

On my first time using linux, I found this game in the games list. I was then a fan of Age of Empires. My dad told me this game's something like it, but nicer. I really liked it since then =)

Gamehippo for us too. Been used to popping into that site for a couple of years, since even though their game reviews have grown scarce lately, they often find pretty neat stuff once they decide to put it up through the site. And well, we read the review, and it sounded just like our thing.
