How can one read "gz" files

Post by brabar » October 12th, 2011, 1:38 pm

Hello !

Reading topics about the feelings of players on the different campaigns of Wesnoth, I can see they attach "gz" files of the game they played, but I can't find the way I could play them ...

It might be a very useful help some times ...

If someone could reveal the smart way ... :?

Thank you so much ! (For the game and the community as well ;))

If the files in question are save games or replays, then simply copy them to the game's save game folder and load them from inside the game.

In case that you want to open ".gz" files to edit them, you can use a software like 7-Zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ ) to open them. Then you'll need a text editor that supports Unix end-of-line style, like Notepad++ ( http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ ).
Current maintainer of these add-ons:
1.14: The Sojournings of Grog, A Rough Life, The White Troll (co-author), Wesnoth Lua Pack
1.12: Children of Dragons

If I recall correctly, you can also go into advanced preferences and choose to use uncompressed saves.
