How do I listen to the .ogg wesnoth music files??
Hey, I'm very confused on how I can listen to the .ogg music files in data/core/music. First, I tried opening them with
Windows Media Player and iTunes, but neither one of them could play the files. Then, I clicked the link to the Ogg Vorbis website, but it wasn't clear about why I couldn't listen to the files. Does anybody know how to listen to .ogg files?
Thanks,
YankeeSamurai

I'd recommend the VLC open-source media player. You can get it here.

Firefox can also play .ogg music files, in case you use that instead of IE.

Thanks for your help, scienceguy8. I downloaded the VLC player, and now I can listen to those .ogg files with no trouble at all! Thank you too, Pentarctagon (pretty cool name btw).

Hey, I know you've got your problem sorted out, but I couldn't resist asking: what type of computer do you use? I use Mac so I am fairly used to a lot of their programs. There is this one program, called Switch which allows you to convert ogg. files into mp3's. You can also convert music files to ogg. format, wave. etc... It is also compatible with Windows incase you were interested. Here is a link below.

You can also download and install the Xiph QuickTime plugin, which will then allow you to play (and encode/convert) .ogg and .ogv (audio and video) files in QuickTime Player and other apps that use the QuickTime framework:

Almost every player can play ogg. Exept WMP and iTunes I guess. Because ogg is a free format and the developers/managers of WMP and iTunes seem to do not like free formats.
Try some other player like WinAmp, KMPlayer or Songbird.

If you're really attachhed to WMP, you can easily use audacity to convert them into a format WMP can play without additional codecs.

I use a kind of generic Gateway desktop pc with Windows Vista... I used to use an iBook; I loved it a ton, but it broke. Got it fixed, but it broke yet again... It was getting old anyway, but it was still A Very Sad Day.

Alternatively, you can install CCCP to listen to ogg files using WMP.
But yeah, pretty much every media player except QuickTime/iTunes and WMP will come with built-in support for ogg files.

I second the CCCP recommendation. I've had it for a long time and it works like a charm, not just for .ogg but also for other formats.
