Snow themed maps

Post by mystic x the unknown »

Greetings.
At times I wanted to play on maps with a lot of snow. So here's a little package that can cover any map with snow, without changing the gameplay.
It works by replacing terrain with it's snow-covered equivalent and then modifying the units to behave like on the original terrain. There's a snow-default era and a macro usable with almost any era, but not with most scenarios including survivals and most maps using snow.

From the screenies, you haven't changed the castles to their snowy equivalent. Maybe that could also be implemented?

There is no snowy equivalent to castle.

Really?

Doh. Was thinking of ruins, I guess...? I remember I saw some sort of snow castle somewhere. Maybe one of the art divisions.

You might be thinking of snow villages? There are a few of those.

Yeah, probably. I just suddenly got this cool-looking mental image of castles with snow-topped spires and I instantly assumed that I had seen it on the forums somewhere else and then by connection assumed that there were snowy castles somewhere.

Psychology is weird.

Forgot about that. In my defense, that thread was posted before I joined, so I didn't read it that closely.

That sounds like a good idea. Any chance of making one for 1.4?

Yeah, that one or something similar. I remember seeing that either in art workshop or art controbs one day when I was bored and browsing the art sections.

Is there a snow castle in the 1.7.11 editor (or a way to put one in), based on the snow castle in the above fixed link that Zarel posted? AFAICT there isn't one, but I'd love one to be in. =)

Best regards,
Steven.

The snow castle is very nice, any chance of it being implemented in 1.8?

Maybe, if someone can get it working the way I suggested in that other thread.
