What is archane

Post by Konkonar »

What is it exactly. Anyone from elves to ghosts use it. What element is it.

Raw magic.

One of the potential terms for the arcane damage type was "dispel". Basically, it does more damage to things of a magical nature (undead, drakes, elves, magical monsters) and less damage to mundane things (humans, dwarves, orcs).

I always thought Arcane Magic means something like "Card Magic"; y'know with magical cards.

O_o What does 'arcane' have to do with cards?

Why can't anyone spell the word 'dispel'?

And why would you come and ask on the forums before consulting a dictionary?

Seriously. In the context of Wesnoth, it means "mysterious".

Well there's Arcane Magic in a game called SaGaFrontier where it basically is magic you use by holding up tarot cards. And there is that game called "Arcana" where every monster is represented by a card. :-)

I assure you that Wesnoth arcane does not involve any cards whatsoever. It does involve magic.

Rya, the basis of this is that in the tarot deck the trump cards are called the Major Arcana.

And the rest of the cards are called the Minor Arcana! :eng:

It's a mystic white magic, formerly 'holy' but since then it has become agnostic.
It's an equal-opportunity magic (chaotic/lawful), and infused with political correctness (NRIW).
Silly or improbable creatures are especially vulnerable to its aura of logic and the scientific method, since it can dispel or disprove them.

Arcane cannot be like atheism in any way, shape, or form because There is No Religion in Wesnoth. But it might happen something like this.

Why didn't you just post that in the "Things that could kill Wesnoth" thread? :)
