Welcome Japan. :-)
We haven't had many users from Asia in the past. However, after this very positive seeming review: http://gekikarareview.com/review_slg/0809wesnoth.html was posted, Japan rose to become the third highest source of visitors to wesnoth.org yesterday (September 15). Japan beat out France for third place, and only the US and Germany were ahead in number of visitors.
So, welcome to any and all new Japanese users. We hope you enjoy Wesnoth! Oh, and if anyone actually knows Japanese, it'd be cool to get that review translated.

Well you got 105 out of 120 points, thus a B. Though I suppose you know this already .

Doh. I love Japan, but I don't know Japanese...
I'll precise that every Japanese Wesnothian guy that signs up, is automatically treated as friend by me.

I also like Japan a lot, and it's good to hear Japanese people like Wesnoth! I know a little bit of Japanese, but I can't talk it.

My parents went to Japan and lived there for a few years, but that was a long time before I was born. It's good that more people know about wesnoth now as it is a worthy game.

I remember as a kid I was so jealous that they got to play all the new Nintendo games in Japan before they were released in the U.S.

Japanese people are notoriously urbanites. Maybe some of them might be willing to work on an urban campaign...

Sega
Nintendo
Atari (name means "to hit the target" in Japanese - even the american companies are/were heavily influenced by Japanese culture)
Anime
Manga
Zero Wing (hehe, just kidding, but there are too many acutal games to name)
numerous contributions to art, programming, design, story and other components of videogames
Domo arigato Nippon!
And welcome to Wesnoth.

Re: Welcome Japan. :-)
Japanese Wesnoth communities have been nearly dormant for some time.
One big reason for this is the localization problem, and some reviewers
at the linked site cite this for subtracting some points.
So while the game is highly valued more than it seems in numbers,
we cannot enjoy fully the great part of Wesnoth.
Recently two Japanese sites (including above one) posted an article about Wesnoth.
People are here today but the increase in number of visitors would be temporary,
I'm afraid to say...
And this goes with many other Asian countries, I believe.

Japan is awesome.Definitly going there again next summer.
Re: Welcome Japan. :-)
We rely on our users to localize the game. If Japanese users are unhappy with the Japanese localization, then they are free to join the localization teams and work on a better Japanese translation of Wesnoth.Cololi wrote: One big reason for this is the localization problem, and some reviewers
