Do Mutiplayer People stick to one Era?

Is there some Era or Eras that almost all the multiplayer games happen in? I'm just starting to do Multiplay against the computer, to figure out what faction(s) I want to be best with, and I'd hate to pick one from an era that nobody plays, to find that the faction I like is either gone or completely different when I play with other people.

Just stick with Default era

Most games are played in the Default era. Age of Heroes is probably next most common. Playing on Default is definitely the best way to learn.

Default Era, the other era's are only ever played if someone specifies that they are, so as not to bring confusion.
