Development & stable packages for openSUSE & Fedora

Post by lipk »

I'm happy to announce the instant availability of the rpm package of Wesnoth 1.9.13 for openSUSE 12.1 on my OBS page! Better to go straight to the download section.

What you need to know:
- All deps can be installed from the standard repo.
- It includes only the game data and binary, no server nor tools.
- This package doesn't conflict with stable release in the games repo, so you can have two working copies of Wesnoth at the same time.
- If you want me to include something else, or support other suse SUSE, Fedora, CentOS, Red Hat or Mandriva versions, it's not too late to ask.
- I count on your feedback.

If it's too late for a Christmas gift, regard it as an early one for New Year

1.9.14 is up. For the future, if I don't state explicitly that a release won't be packaged, then you can assume it will be.
Yeah, and added repos for 11.4 and Tumbleweed too.

Cool! Do you know if there is a way to add a repo for Fedora from this? I have a Fedora Computer, so I can help with that if needed.

So yes.

What I need to know are the Fedora equivalents of the following packages:
libSDL-devel + naming pattern for related packages such as libSDL_image-devel
boost-devel (you may have multiple smaller packages instead, naming pattern then, eg: boost-regex-1_46 or something like that)
pango-devel
fribidi-devel
dbus-1-devel
make (likely to be the same, but better to fear than... )
cmake
gcc-c++ (most likely g++, but I'm not sure)

Looking at the dependencies for "wesnoth" in the yum:

Code: Select all

SDL:
  SDL
  SDL_image
  SDL_mixer
  SDL_net
  SDL_ttf

boost:
  boost-iostreams
  boost-regex

pango:
  pango

fribidi:
  fribidi

dbus:
  dbus

make:
  make

cmake:
  cmake

gcc:
  libgcc
As you can see, these are not development packages. For the SDL packages, just add -devel to the end. There aren't any development packages for boost-iostreams and boost-regex, but there is a package called boost-devel. For dbus: dbus-devel.

Sorry about not seeing your post, sometimes I do that. I hope this list is adequate.

I'd love to, but I can't. My parents are strict on video game times.

If I get a chance to, I'll PM you.

Oh, what's a pity. Anyway, your packages are served in a good 30 minutes.

EDIT: build finished. Fedora packages available for download!

Cool!
Thanks for putting this online, I never have the time or motivation to compile a game from source. But thanks to you I can finally play the mysterious wesnoth 1.9.

Just for clarification: I won't package BfW 1.10. It's a stable release and (hopefully) will be available in the main repos.

(Sigh) The openSUSE game packaging team seems to be kidnapped by UFOs, so I decided to make an up-to-date package for the stable branch too. See my OBS page.

I've added a Fedora 17 repo for the dev branch. Not as if it mattered much, the latest dev release is still 1.9.14.

Updated both stable and development packages. Note that from now on, wesnoth-dev installs wesnothd, too. (The practical aspect of the thing is that now you can host LAN games).
