Error cant create any multiplayer games

this happens regardless of weather i'm trying to create a online or local multiplayer game
im in wesnoth 1.14.5
This is a problem for me and i really want it fixed.

At what point does the error happen? Does it happen when you join the lobby, or on the screen after that (choose map), or on that screen after that (choose faction), or during play?

Do you have any addons installed?

Does the "Load Game" dialog work?

It happens after I click create game on official server before it should show the pick map screen (so I never leave the lobby screen)
When trying to create a local match there is a losing screen then the error (on loading screen) then I'm back in the multiplayer tab with choice of official server etc.
As for addons I have too many to count but none that should effect the creation of multiplayer games
I can join multiplayer games perfectly fine but not create. I get an error that some of my addons are missing when on the loading screen to access lobby.
Its worth noting this error only happened after I updated wesnoth to 1.14.5

When you start wesnoth, in the title screen there are buttons, "Tutorial", "Campaigns", "Multiplayer", etc. The fourth one down is "Load". When you click it, what happens, do you get an error message?

And please try moving your add-ons directory aside just to rule that out as a possible cause.

Load option is fine, I can load games including saved multiplayer games perfectly fine.
Trying to create a multiplayer games without addons crashes wesnoth into desktop

im going to install it via steam and try on 1.14.6 there, if it works ill post it here

It doesn't work with 1.14.6, now it just crashes me into desktop

I'm not sure what else it could be. If you close wesnoth, move the user data directory out of the way, and restart wesnoth, does it still crash?

I would ask if there is an error message on stderr and if you can get the line number it's crashing at, but I don't know how to get that info under steam.

I can not find a user data directory, in steam or the non steam version.
I can find a "data" directory and moving that prevents steam from being able to start wesnoth
