Need help transferring save data

Post by SumGai » August 29th, 2010, 1:47 am

I tried transferring Battle for Wesnoth onto an external hard drive so that I could play it no a more powerful computer, but the save data did not transfer with it.

How do I transfer my saves from one machine to another?

You need to find your userdata folder first. What operating system are you on?

Okay on windows check in
My Documents\My Games\
You should see a wesnoth folder. That contains all your add-ons, saves, replays, preferences, and what not.

All right I've got the folder, it's exactly where you said it was on the Windows XP machine, thank you.

Just mentioning, dropping it in mygames on the windows 7 computer did not work. Eventually I tracked down a folder called userdata and copied the contents into there.

Thank you very much for helping me out. I appreciate it.

Where are the save files on a Mac? - OSX 10.5.8 - Wesnoth 1.9.0

I thought I knew where all that stuff was kept; I've spent 20 minutes looking in every place I could think of!! Uggghh...

I'm trying to transfer saves to a Mac OS X, and can't see any folder called Wesnoth_1.8 in Application Support.

Wrong library. Look at the above post. "~" denotes the Home folder.
