Ugly man page

Post by Pp2 »

I am not sure if it is here that I have to post it. I have compiled wesnoth from the svn trunk on gentoo linux. I use the testing package instead of the stable one and everything work fine except that I got serious display problem in the man page of wesnoth. I would like to know if it is a wesnoth bug and how to get rid of it or if I have a missing package(if this is the case, please tell me what to emerge, if possible.) Here is a copy of the top of the french version of the man page.

The bug is that the manpage viewer you are using is *not* utf8 compatible. On gentoo install sys-apps/man-db instead to make things work nicely. Yes, it does suck that the default manpage viewer these days is not able to make use of utf8!
