Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
Hi,
I've installed 1.4 on a Windows XP SP2 box. Replay files are corrupted and don't replay properly.
At first I thought this might be related to running under a limited (non-administrator) account. When we replayed files written under this account, they generated warnings ("the file you have tried to load was corrupt") and the games started getting rather surreal. So I switch to an admin account and ran the same files again; I saw the same problems.
Then I tried playing and saving a short game when running under the admin account. This seemed to work OK, but I think this may just be because I didn't play for long enough - witness the following errors in stderr.txt below:

If it helps, I can put one of the corrupt files on a web site for someone to download.
Oh, I should mention I still have 1.2.8 installed in a separate directory. (Neither of them are in C:\Program Files). Could this be interfering with 1.4?

Did you by any chance save/load in the AIs turn in that game?

BTW, yes. They ofter failed to replay in previous versions, and they continue to do it in 1.4. Windows XP, too.DaveBerry33 wrote:Hi,

No. E.g., I played yesterday 'HttT-Underground channels' with no manual saves at all, and it still doesn't replay. The log says the strange thing:Soliton wrote:Did you by any chance save/load in the AIs turn in that game?

Re: Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
In the game corresponding to the stderr.txt above, I saved right at the beginning of the player turn (turn number 4, I think) - running with admin privileges, in case that's relevant.Soliton wrote:Did you by any chance save/load in the AIs turn in that game?
In the other cases, the files were saved right at the end of the game, running in a non-admin account.
The reason I keep mentioning admin/non-admin accounts is that there was a problem running in a non-admin account in late versions of 1.3, which I believe was related to calling the file compression code. However, this isn't necessarily related to the current; I don't know enough to judge.
They worked OK for me with 1.2.8. I haven't tried using intermediate versions.vicza wrote: BTW, yes. They ofter failed to replay in previous versions, and they continue to do it in 1.4. Windows XP, too.
Re: Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
Hi,
Same here. My OS is also Windows XP SP2. Though I've save reloaded several times during my games...
Pretty much all of my saves are corrupted. It's basically at the beginning someone who is supposed to be there on turn one (like an Elven Captain/Marshall), either changed to someone else (like the Elven Captain changed to an Elven Hero), or for other cases, like Delfador, doesn't exist at all. One other symptom I noticed is that for the first turn, nobody is able to recruit anything (in the replay that is), either the player/AIs. Here's my latest error trying to replay a pretty good The Siege on Elsenfar game:

Re: Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
BTW, why are talking only about the Windows versions? Linux replays are corrupted as well (hmm, "as well"... "As bad" would be more appropriate here).
Re: Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
BTW, yes. I also can load MP-replays (whether downloaded or mine, vs AI) without problems. But not campaign replays...Xyan wrote: P/S: BTW, I am able to replay other v1.4 replays (like MP ones I downloaded from the forums) without any hitch.

Hello.
I'm playing wesnoth 1.4 and am experiencing the same issue on windows xp professional under the heir to the thrown campaign. The saves work ok for me though. Also, it's not all the campaign replays.
I'm attaching a save (which appears to work fine) and the replay (which is el corrupto).

Re: Replays failing on Windows XP with Wesnoth 1.4
I've got the same problem that you guys have.
I'm running Windows XP with service pack 2, and i noticed that my replays get corrupted when it is time to recall old units. The game can't find the units that must be recalled and then the corrupt-error-message pops up.
We are on the same boat, guys : / But i can't seem to find any solution.
