creature names differ for multiplayer clients

Post by Zarat »

1.3.12 - windows

I've played the dark forecast survival map in multiplayer (local network). Each player sees different names on the spawned creatures, this gets very confusing when you want to coordinate attacks 8)

It can be worked around, sure, but it's still a bug.

Did the players use different languages?
If yes than this is not a bug, otherwise it is.

And I really expect that to be the case, otherwise the only thing I can think of is that the games are out of sync and that will give more errors.

I think this problem only happens with spawns, not normal recruits.

Yes, I agree it is a bug. Is it still true that you can't do "use random traits" either in MP?

Yeah, random traits still cause OOS in MP.
My current projects:
MP pirate campaign: The Altaz Mariners
RPG sequel: Return to Trent
MP stealth campaign: Den of Thieves

Both players using the same language (german), but only names of spawned monsters differ.

If both used the same language then it might be the fact that some random events aren't send properly over the network (name generation is random), like the random traits.

You might want to file a bug at http://bugs.wesnoth.org so it won't get forgotten.
