I've played the dark forecast survival map in multiplayer (local network). Each player sees different names on the spawned creatures, this gets very confusing when you want to coordinate attacks

It can be worked around, sure, but it's still a bug.

I think this problem only happens with spawns, not normal recruits.
Yes, I agree it is a bug. Is it still true that you can't do "use random traits" either in MP?

If both used the same language then it might be the fact that some random events aren't send properly over the network (name generation is random), like the random traits.
You might want to file a bug at http://bugs.wesnoth.org so it won't get forgotten.
