observer mode

Post by zxzxi »

It's been a long time since I played this game, but I downloaded the newest versions and tried it out again.

After all these updates there is still one thing that is still there that bugs me.

Whenever you observe a game that has around, probably somewhere around 30+ turns already done, you have to catch up, but usually before you can actually catch up, you get an error that forces you to quit and also gets your username stuck in the game.

Is this a problem that can be fixed?

Unlikely, since it's probably not reliably reproducable for anybody other then yourself. At least I never heard about such a bug or experienced it myself and I observe a lot of games.

What kind of connection are you on? Did it change since the last time you tried?

Have you ever tried to observe a game with over 30 turns done?

I have comcast internet and it hasn't changed since the last time.

I've observed games with 100+ turns with no problems.

Can you be more specific? Is it dial-up, broadband, are you using WLAN for your local network?

This happens in any version I play, it really just depends on if the game has had a lot of turns done yet or not. Although right now I have wesnoth 1.2.5 stable version and wesnoth 1.3.3

It was 1.2.5 this happened in, though it probably would happen in 1.3.3 as well.

I believe it's broadband. I have no idea what WLAN is and I know for a fact that it is not dial-up.

btw, in case I never specified, the error usually happens after I've almost caught up with the game I'm observing (meaning I'm almost at the turn the players are at).
