little problem with the tutorial

Post by DarkAmex »

I'm tring the SVN version of the game and at the start of the tutorial there is a problem...
let's try
1) start the tutorial
2) select Konrad
3) when the game ask to move Konrad "HERE" move Konrad in an other place that isn't "HERE"
4) ignore the 'u' pression request and End your turn.

After that Konrad say (this is a bug...):
"Ouch! I need to heal! Only 32 hp left"
and Delfador:
"There is a village on the... ecc. ecc."

And the same appens for every thing that I don't do... (after that, You can try to move the konrad "HERE" and the game return at the "correct" storyboard... but If you don't attack the quintain and move Konrad far from it, the quintain will attack Delfador and the story continue as if the quintain has attacked Konrad)

The tutorial is not configurated for an undisciplinated player.

Should be fixed.

You see, you're missing a crucial point to the tutorial. New players are not this stupid. Usually in a tutorial, you are expected to follow instructions. If you choose to not learn the game by not following the instructions given to you, then you might as well not be playing the tutorial.

The player isn't stupid. But the game should control this evenience with a "stopping" error message and shouldn't have a caotical reaction as now it does.

fine. Come up with a way to sense if the player is doing the correct move that can be turned off for when you are allowed to play on your own.

It's possible because the old tutorial did it. Either the tutorial should not be so specific in its requirements (like the first tutorial) or it should be more robust (like the second tutorial). Calling a player stupid for not following a script is only making an excuse for a WML oversight that hasn't been fixed due to lack of resources. We have been over this before. DarkAmex, we await your patch!

So with knowing that there is a similar (maybe even the same) bug report already you chose to open a new one why?

Did you by any chance read the comments on that report?

I posted it before control that's all (and as you can see the old segnalation is Closed, but the bug is open in SVN version). I have the impression that the there are many permalous developer in this game.

I'm contributing for make a better game for all, translating in my language an testing the game, (that's the only things that I can actualy do) If I shouldn't do it, say me so I will work for another project.
