Hello, C-Level buisness English speaking and writing German here. I'm not perfect but I dare say I better the Google-Translator in terms of terminology and rhetoric.

Why not joining the German translation team ? You would most probably be welcomed there and will learn the best way to do things (using the gettext translation system). Take a look http://wiki.wesnoth.org/GermanTranslation.
