pronunciation

Post by Boldek »

okay, I am planning a campaign where people speak, chant, sing, decode messages in some sort of Wesnothian latin. as a sort of 'olden language spoken by the priests'. I once overheard that such languages did exist, but am not sure. at first I was going to use latin, but somehow that would been too easy for people that know it. I have seen discussions of different languages and writing, but I am unsure about pronunciation. should I just make up my own? has any linguist done this already? anyone have any ideas for a language?

I've just done a similar thing, and I mimicked the Primeval language from BMR. It fits the bill nicely - they are ancient gods, after all - and also a nice way to reference other things in Wesnoth without being too overt with it.
