Re: Story For Huge RPG
I can only agree with this. Writing stories for both campaigns I am making ended up like this:Daravel wrote:Personally, I've always found that starting at the beggining of the story is a bad way to go.
Start at the end: Where do you want the character to end up? Where does the story go? From there you can work out
1) End finished, beginning finished
2) More details added to the end
3) Total revolution of the beginning as I had a much better idea.
What does this tell you?
Start at the end!
You are a Necromancer - Intelligent and powerful, yet reclusive and misunderstood, you dabble in dark arts that everyone else can only dream of.

Okay. At the end, the Hero finds the source of their never ending growth in power - they are a Al'faya, an angelic being sent by the gods to protect the world, for they cannot intervene directly.

A major point that strikes me: what is the conflict? What is this person doing with their heroic tendencies, who are they fighting?

The conflict? Against the 4 Lords of the Ik'faya, Blood, Bone, Fire and Death. The Ik'faya are sent by the evil gods.
Re: Story For Huge RPG
So, a guy joins some guys to fight some gods who randomly decide to attack? Some questions that should be answered:
-Why did the gods choose this moment to attack?
-Why did the hero decide to go on this adventure?
-How do they plan to defeat people that are empowered by gods?

I think the second question is answered; the will to be a hero.
