any replays worth studying?

Post by max_torch »

Are there any replays of the TGT? also what does tgt stand for? are there any replays of multiplayer games that are particularly worth studying and epic, or of a pseudo-halloffamelike quality? and in this thread can we represent not only 1v1 but also 2v2, etc?
Epic comebacks also welcome.

TGT is The Grand Tag, a tournament organized by Dunno. Replays for the last time started here at page 12: http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php ... &start=165

When I was beginning I enjoyed many of the "Neki's Brutal Wesnoth" videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/NekisBrutalWesnoth

If you don't want the audio commentary / youtube vid, I mean you can always just go to the ladder page. I guess you can't go wrong with games of Cackfiend or Dauntless against other top tier players? I think I watched a number of the games listed here and similar back in the day... http://wesnoth.gamingladder.info/gamehi ... ingand=AND

Bonobo's games are also often quite nice :)

The most epic / improbable comeback game that I remember playing myself was against Cybio: http://wesnoth.gamingladder.info/downlo ... %3A02%3A14

I'm not sure about higher level games that had an epic comeback? Maybe watch some replays of Shadowveil vs. Kira1 or something. SV is very good but his style is also to press hard his advantage once he has one, so if luck goes against him hard it can backfire in spectacular fashion. So I guess that might lead to some epic comebacks.

Hey, The Grand Tag! I'd love to take part in TGT! Is anyone going to organize the next edition? (Dunno organized ONLY the latest edition)

About replays: Ladder games with players ranked in TOP TEN are usually worth watching.
I played lately in the Polish tournament Turniej Zapomnianych Mocy. There are two interesting games I played. (Other aren't problably worth seeing)
Zombies spammed by Axtman destroying dwarves' army. I hate Zombies.http://sendfile.pl/pokaz/320660---KC9q.html
Drakes vs Undead. Zombies, adepts and ghouls vs Drakes helped by Saurians = very interesting match. http://speedy.sh/jBVtd/2p-Delta-Sablestone-powtorka.gz

Definitely epic! This is not your regular observable game! Both leaders made use of leadership trait. Amazing tactic of Cybio by bringing everything including his leader straight down and giving constant pressure and allowing him to use leadership, which effectively somewhat diminished the advantage effect of drake's mobility in this map. iceiceice's glider up top helped to give money for recruitment. iceiceice, you're life was saved by the impassable unwalkable chasm and ToD  !

Watched a few. definitely feels epic!
EDIT: I just had an idea.. maybe in a tournament it would be a nice to try incorporating an early finish bonus/recall veterans system just like in campaigns.. basically the faster you defeat your opponent the more gold you have next round and if you took care of your veterans you can recall them next round. So in the first round of matches everyone has same start gold and no recalls but in second round when the winners of first round face each other they will have different gold and recalls depending on how well they played the first. Just to make it feel like a campaign, and this might be an interesting dynamic :eng:
