Eastern Invasion (EI) - Undead Boarder Patrol

Hi everyone,

I'm playing EI on v 1.4.5 on medium difficulty and I'm having the hardest time getting by the Undead Border Patrol scenario. I'm trying to go east to fight the lich to get to Mal Ravanal's capital. I only seem to be starting this scenario with about 150 gold. I get a couple of Heavy Infantry who are almost leveling up, but these darned bats keep getting in my way. I've got a couple of spearmen to fight them, but they're not that effective. I gave Gweddry the potion so he's got arcane attacks.

Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated!

Oh, and I did try searching the forum first, including the EI thread mentioned in the walkthrough page, but with 34 pages of posts I couldn't go through the whole thing!!!!

Sweep the bats with mages. Piercing attacks are useless against skeletons, bash 'em with HI or arcane.
