Need help to use Undeads

Post by Zoloom »

Hello,

I play Wesnoth for 1 month, and i used specially Drakes and Undeads. I love Undeads and i will get better with their.

This evening i played a little party with 3 player : Northern, Rebels (elf) and me with Undeads.

As i follow in different threads i try to get very large choice of units, mainly night adepts and skeletons. I killed Orc chief, but i can't do anything between elf, they have better units and their trees can beat one skeleton per turn.

I know i made a lot of errors in this battle, but could you help me and give me some tips, what i should do or not.
I will play on the net, but i don't want to be ridiculous :(

Thanks to you so much and sorry for my poor English.

Honestly i have only played that map once, and don't play 1v1v1's often, and also didnt finish the replay, however:
You recruited a lot of ghosts, i realize villages are far away- on that map but i believe bats are 7gp cheaper with similar movement speed.

So you think that bats are better at first turn ?

But the problem is that they are week, and dont resist long time, not enough to help their with my others units.

Thanks for your answers :)

PS : Do you think that i should train with 1vs1 ?

I will be happy to play you 1v1, i usually play 2v2 or 1v1, so my advice on 3 player free for alls may not be good.

First off: looks like you're playing on a random map, which unfortunately is not very balanced for multiplayer. The random generator tends to create much larger clumps of mountain/forest terrain than you will find in a good handmade MP map, which favors dwarves and elves a lot and tends to suck for loyalists and undead. Still, random maps can still be enjoyable enough, so all the more power to you if you have fun playing them.

As others have noted, you did overrecruit on ghosts a little bit. Bats may not be very strong--but ghosts aren't all that much stronger, and they're much more expensive. Plus, the bat's higher mobility is a real killer on larger maps like this one.

No ghouls, I see, although that's not a terribly large issue here.

Your use of walking corpses is very good--actually, if anything you may have been feeding them a few too many kills. Plague is an awesome ability and you take full advantage of it here, but a little bit of that XP could have been put to better use on your other units. The upgrade to soulless is a kind of mediocre one, especially since any further kills your soulless get is just wasted XP.

You run into the same problem with your single upgraded skeleton. You upgraded a skeleton to the dead-end deathblade class, then racked up a bunch of kills. By the time that deathblade goes down it's got 50 XP on it, all of which goes down the drain.

The main problem I see is strategic, not tactical--you fight well enough, but your overall planning needs work. After the first few days of fighting you're in decent shape, but then you send your main drive eastward straight at red, with only a couple of units to cover the south. The result here is that green gets almost uncontested control over the village-heavy southwest corner, and uses all that income to just build a huge army and roll over you.

its out of date but still a good start.

Hi,

I make two match between one enemy and i won all the time. Bats are realy good, and their mobility give me a serious plus to win. I appreciate Ghouls to in big battles.

Thanks to all for your help.

Ghosts have their purpose, namely, survivability vs non-fire enemies (although rebels can still take them down with ease).

However bats are both 7g cheaper, don't cost upkeep, are faster, get traits, and can levelup off a single kill and a handful of fights.

Wow I'm sorry. I've been gone for 3 months or so and it seems all the old replays links have expired :(
