The Elves Besieged!

Post by Elvish_Pillager »

It is possible to level Konrad twice in The Elves Besieged, but only in Hard mode. Maybe he should take more experience to level?
I used no save-loading in this replay, although I did have to try several times.

Why should he be harder to level? In multiplayer you start out with a general (type). He should be easier to level than other units so that it is easier for him to survive and aid others with his leadership.

Perhaps it should be a tad more difficult, but not much more, I think.

He should be harder to level because it doesn't seem right leveling him all up in one scenario and then not having experience be useful to him any more. I don't see how what you said about multiplayer is relevant.

With a bit of skill, enougt tries and luck you can even level to level 3rd most of your units in 1st level (Think 2 avengers+1 champion + 1 Shyde + 1 Marshall)
Even as the chance to do it is too slim you still have a probality to do it (hit always, enemy miss) and if the number as tries grows it grows.*
To most people leveling Konrad to 3rd level in 1st scenario is not feasible as usually only replay the level when it doesnt beat it or beat it too barely.

Man you have too much time on your hands... search a girlfriend ;)

* I'm not a really bright statistician but I have a Bachelor degree on that. The probality of that happening converges to 1 as the sample number grows.

You can only really do it in hard mode and thats with a lot of luck only by sacrificing all the units you recruit and killing several high level enemys, so its not easy or even really worth the bother. Its probably more beneficial to raise up raise up a bunch of rangers or just save gold (gets scarce in the early missions on hard, at least the last time I played the main campaign) than have a high level Konrad.

It only took me four tries, level one units are fine cannon fodder, there are plenty of high level enemies, and I found it fun.

I don't think that there's anything wrong when an experienced player, playing on Hard difficulty and explicitly trying, can level a unit twice in one level.

It ain't broke, so don't fix it.

I suppose if everyone else thinks it's good as it is, that's the way it should be.
