You know, someone actually tried this on me the other day in a 3p game. Disappointingly they did not succeed, although I cannot for the life of me venture a guess why not.

Here's a question for you, how else would you start a game?
perhaps i could just make a run for it with my leader in a team match, and let my teammates do the work? :P

or even better, going to fight the enemy solo with my leader and see how long can i survive?
evolved around the confined environment, emotions, knowledge and events mixed into my life, mere mortal am i, trying to climb higher up the ladder, time passes, just then i realized, death will part me eventually. - playtom's philosophy

first i count the villages on the map ( eg 11 )
than i divide them by the number of players ( 11/2= 5.5 )
then i round that number up if needed ( 5.5 => 6 )
depending on the map size i recruit a scout up to 3
i calculate the best wy to capture tha calculated amount of villages
[...]
this is usual the point where i get tirde od calculating so much things and i get myself a dice to determine random coordinates to put my units on

:P You could play the scottish way dont spend unnecessary money.

Dont buy units, scout with your leader, know your enemy, run home and buy the right units...(no money wasted :P )

The spartan play: buy yourself a unit for every ten units of your enemy , leave your main army behind and your leader defeats the enemy in the mountais alone.... if he is killed his troops march up and kill the rest of the enemies....

This thread makes me sad inside. It also makes me lose all faith in people.
Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?
