However, I think even the Starhome is less than this, the alien Voidcraft.
It is armed with twin laser turrets and six bombs, and is unusually tough.

Comparable, perhaps, to the Voidcraft, at least in labor spent on it, is the astronaut Carrier.
Although its only weapons are twin lasers, it has the ability to carry two astronaut vehicles from one place to another.

Presenting an upgrade to the latter and a downgrade to the former:
the astronaut Transporter and the alien Assault Craft.
The Transporter is slightly more heavily armed than the Carrier, and can hold up to four units at a time.
The Assault Craft has no bombs; instead, it has a big cannon, like the Gunship's, on a turret.

No, but I did ask about legality issues on another thread....is there already a thread where you discuss the development of the era?
About team coloring... well, maybe later and maybe not. There are already only two sides, so it's not essential, and there are ellipses, but for now I'm working on basic artwork. Once I get a release out I will go back and touch up all the models (for example, anyone who sees them will probably notice that all the cockpits are empty), and that likely will include team coloring.
On another note, the artwork progresses: the astronauts now have a Starfighter, armed with a triple laser and two missiles.

- I must have been listening to Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain when I designed the Mech. Spider. It has two occupants, two fangs, two lasers, two beam cannons and an aura of menace.

- Edit: The Hive Warden is coated with shimmering green armor and equipped with a pair of headlights. Its lasers have been moved up into the turrets with the beam cannons, for an extra field of fire.

Three airborne alien units:
1) The Hiveborn is a throwaway lvl0 alien ship; it has only a double laser. If it lives long enough, it may become an alien Fighter.
2) This is not my best model, but I hope it will do. The Duster advances from the Fighter, is armed with a twin laser and also two powerful fans,
which churn up grit and form a terrible sandstorm. I'm not sure what effect to apply to this in-game.
3) The Astral Fighter is optimized for deep space, stealth and surprise. It has two cannons and two concealed lasers.
1) The Hiveborn is a throwaway lvl0 alien ship; it has only a double laser. If it lives long enough, it may become an alien Fighter.
