Female variant for the Rogue Mage line

Post by Faerie_Storm »

I made a female variant for the rogue mage line (originally found in Liberty)

top line (from liberty): Rogue Mage, Shadow Mage, Shadow Lord
bottom line (female variant): Rogue Mage, Shadow Mage, Shadow Lady

I plan to animate both male and female versions of this sprite.

However, I want some feedback on the female variant looks before I start animating it.

Thanks :)

Edit:

Draft of Rogue Mage defend frame:

I Know the sword in this image is a bit off and needs fixing, but I'm looking for feedback on how his body is moving in the defence frame.

Is it intentional that the female sprites still have parts of the beard?

Female variants of sprites usually differ by a different shape of their chest. These ones don't.
But I said usually, I cannot imagine what specific changes should be done to them, because the shape of their bodies are hidden under their loose garments, and there are some units that don't differ in this.
Yeah, and those beards are comical.

Anyway, I greatly appreaciate that you're animating units, many sprites were recently replaced by unanimated ones.

In 1.8, rogue mages had animated sprites. But quite crappy ones.

They looked quite different then too I think?

Also thanks for pointing out the bits of the beard, that's a pretty big oversight :augh:

Thanks for the work, I''m playing with the idea of a campaign using the new rogue sprite as the hero, any new animations would be great!

We can't really tell how it's moving from still frames. If you post a .gif of the animated image, it would help.

If you would like to animate Rogue Mage line, you can touch up mine.:)
Adding some layers will probably be necessary to be installed on Liberty campaign, I guess.
They are male units only, though. (I personally don't think female units are necessary for them because they are just for Liberty campaign, not for core-units.)

EDIT:
aah, I probably misunderstand you a little bit. This is Art Workshop Forum, so you just develop them for yourself, right? You can still use mine, though.

If you add female units on them, I think you ought to change the face of her L3 because male one looks older than their L1 and L2.:)

I am animating this line for a multiplayer era (and campaign which I've started). I looked at your units rogue mage animations and I have to say, while some parts look ok, other parts the movement doesn't look that realistic.

Good point, another thing to add to my list XD

Try putting putting each frame in its own layer in a single document. Then you should (hopefully) have a save/export option to an animated gif.

If your Photoshop came with a second program called ImageReady, your can edit & preview your animations there.

It didn't come with ImageReady. My photoshop came with a tablet and Corel photo paint and another Corel program. Anyway to do it without?
