No, that tutorial is perfectly up to date. 60% opacity, RGB 22, 0, 52 (#160034).

Ah, I'll try and get GIMP after I'm done with these final assignments (1 down 2 to go)

But who's to say that I don't procrastinate and start tinkering with the frames again :9 Thanks for the directions to the shadow tutorials!

sorry about the misinformation re shadows. But, sooner or later you will need to remove your backgrounds, and gimp will do this nicely- Good luck on your assignments :)

Wait, what. orangebox surely has some photoshop-class (i don't know if it's Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or [acronym=I don't know if this one would work with sprites, since I lack personal experience]Corel Painter[/acronym]) program on board for sure, since s/he does digital painting (you know - portraits?). Whatever it is, it surely can be used to create PNGs with transparency without having to download another one.

Reupdated all my sprites with proper shadows and simplified the spear (they looked too fancy lol)

Done an air attack animation, removed ground attack animation (will be reanimated when I have the time for a slash attack with proper attack angles/directions)

And yes you're right shinobody. I used adobe photoshop instead. It's much more convenient for me since I'm much more used to it.

Edit: Found out that the PNG compilation had a few flawed pixels - happened during retouching that I messed with other pixels and wasn't aware of ._. Updated it with a proper version now.

Edit 2: The PNG folder is nearing it's completion. Added a flying defend frame. Only death animation left. I suppose I'll leave it as is for now. Will need to start working on the Hummingbird.

The ground melee animation is it a "blade" type attack ?

Yes it is. I decided to change it thinking that they wouldn't be too good at running about and poking things on foot. Swinging them however, seemed to be much more fitting.

OK. So the ground movement looks good to me. But too fast. I suggest you add images at the beginning and perhaps at the end of the movement.
Air movement is strange. Something is wrong. But I do not know what, sorry.

Should be slower now. I changed the angle of the swing slightly - as I noticed that instead of attacking something south-east, the unit seems as if striking north-east.

Yeah it is. I slacked and decided not to include a few in-between frames. (after looking at most of the unit attacks in general) I'm thinking of only wanting to make the dive attack polished though, since it -is- the Kingfisher's signature attack :D

However, I may revisit the ground attack and polish it when I feel like it :9

Since right now, I'll need to start working on the hummingbirds.

Nice work on the concept, you've got some decent art skill too.
