Re: Vranca´s era artwork
Great work so far! This era is shaping up to be some good eye candy
Agreed with Dixie--the bottom one is nicer, but the shield's still all little close in. Also, his other arm is in kind of an awkward position……maybe lower his elbow a little?
Keep it up!

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
I very much like the shield on this one and will probably use it as uhm... "inspiration"
Re: Vranca´s era artwork
Glad you like it.
I'll start working on the hoplite since no one is giving any crits on this gay,but he is open for crits.

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
The spear's tip is really big and blurry, though, It needs much more love: try having more outlines, contrast, that sort of things. You probably know what i mean, anyway, I guess...

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
I think it's improved some. I'd add more highlights onto his shield, however. It seems awfully dull in comparison with his chest piece.

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
His spear-arm still hasn't changed……that's the only part that really bothers me.
Re: Vranca´s era artwork
I'm not sure about the arm,it's supposed to be almost stretched out,an there is very little space to work on.I'll try something so we'll see. Also which version is better,in 'b' version i used a bit different shadows?

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
I prefer a.
I'm not really seeing it as foreshortened, but if you say so. Even so, I do feel like it (and the shoulder) are a little high up……I'm not sure about the arm,it's supposed to be almost stretched out
Re: Vranca´s era artwork
Here is the hoplite. He's not finished, the spear, and probably the shield will be changed, because i wanted to almost finish him and go to sleep

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
This helmet looks much improved from the last ones. There was something bothering me about the thickness/angle on the back, but I couldn't put it to words exactly. However, the face inside is kinda blurred along the helmets edge. Try adding some definition in there with some eyes and such!
The shoulder piece of his linen armor on his right shoulder is leaning out a lot. It makes it kinda look like that shoulder is facing back, while the position of his feet indicate the opposite. Cropping off it's outer edge closer to the body would probably help there.
You seem to be using the same or mostly the same shades for the armor and the skin. I'd suggest a different color set for the skin.

Re: Vranca´s era artwork
Actually I'm only happy with how the spartan turned out,so i will rework all of these, some less some more, and it may include changing the colors of bronze.
Here is the incomplete tree for hoplite line, what do you think of it,and should i rework some of them from scratch?
