Re: Vranca´s artwork
OK,thanks for advice i'll see to it.Now that you mention it... Sort of. If you include a brow, or dark pixel for shade of a sunken eye, it might help. If you need to make the head bigger, you could make the shoulders bigger to prevent him from looking child-like.
I'm still thinking what to make TC.He has a teal loincloth, and a lot of blue crystals and blades.I'm prefer the loincloth, because the other line will have green crystals.Maybe you should change the blue to magenta to give it some TC?
Thanks,I agreeI think that's a lot better than your earlier sprites!
I will be on a trip till Tuesday,so I won't get any stuff done till then, but you are free to comment these guys till then

Re: Vranca´s artwork
He seems strange and small somehow. The armour is also a bit confusing at first, and the spear seems slightly misshapen. It looks sort of like a cube at a 45º angle, that spearhead.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
It appears kinda muddled overall. I think the issue is it needs more contrast. The hood/helm thing looks good, but the body is hard to read.

Is this any better?

Re: Vranca´s artwork
It looks quite similar, to be honest. I'm also having trouble telling what is going on with his face. I'd try sticking with simpler shapes, along with more contrast (not just color-shifting the pixels you already have down).

Re: Vranca´s artwork
I don't really know how to improve it,i would appreciate a paint-over of his chest armor from someone so i could analyze the changes.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
I didn't get through tweaking everything, but it should be enough to give an example. I added one desaturated shade of red/pink to put reflections of the light-saber into the armor, but if color count is an issue for you it wont change much to remove it. I started to tweak the legs a bit, as they had some pose/position issues but I didn't spend too much time on it and they need a little more love.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
There's quite a bit of banding. Since you're trying to fit so many details in, you need to carefully and selectively control your usage of outlines. For example, the blue jewels stand out enough already due to their difference in color from the gold- no need to outline those so completely. Your sprite looks somewhat cluttered as a result.
The color scheme is nice but bending the shadows a bit towards purple may help.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
The increased saturation and contrast of the new color scheme has improved the quality of the sprite a lot. Something I meant to mention about your Sith sprite but forgot was that the colors all were very similar and kinda washed out the color and contrast of the sprite too much, but I think you've got the right idea based on this.
Regarding banding, I'm not seeing too many really troublesome issues, but I'm not the best with this so I'm not sure how much I can help there.
Overall the sprite is looking good, but I'll point out a few minor things that I would change:
The triangular chest piece looks a little rough now, texture-wise. Smoothing this out would help it pop out as the outer-most layer of the chest again (at least, that was how I interpreted it before anyway.)
I think some stronger inner outlines, or rather partial outlines, would be an improvement. Don't be afraid to use that near-black shade here and there on the inside of the sprite too, especially where edges may point more toward the viewer or a greater amount of space exists between elements, like where the viewer's left-hand shoulder piece overlaps the chest armor. This is something you have to be careful with, but it can help with depth where you have multiple layers.
The hips/lower torso have a very sharp angle on the viewers left and a smoother bulge on the right. If anything, it should be the opposite, but I'm not quite sure what you are trying to portray there. Personally, I would suggest sliding the belt part to the left of the crystal over one pixel to the left to beef up the hips on that side and getting rid of the one grey pixel above the belt on the right side and tweaking its outline.
The feet might need stronger outlines, especially the heels, to stand out better from the shadow if you are adding one.
Good job, I definitely like the direction you've taken these.

Re: Vranca´s artwork
There's still some banding going on in places. You might've already seen this, but this is a decent explanation of banding, and gives some examples of how to fix it.Vranca wrote:I have done some fixes, but i dont know if i fixed all banding issues.
Banding is something that can be hard to overcome. Just don't, like me, become so afraid of banding that it actually hurts your work more than it helps because you're seeing banding where none exists.
