Yes, I have not forgotten. I was going to try and keep the old one for use in some sort of format (like an idle animation) but didn't work out. I'm taking on the problems one at a time. Made some major changes to the base-frame, detailed below.
Here's take 3:
Removed hump on back
shrunk legs
changed head/neck area entirely
and I think I used anti-aliasing on the lines. (did I?)
Voila!

If you want your dinosaurs usable as "random monster" against usual Wesnoth units (and not only against each other), they should really be bigger - your dinosaurs are sized like horses, and the real ones should mostly be definitely bigger than drakes or trolls.

Look here for a size reminder:

I agree with pauxlo, dinosaurs like stegosaur are much bigger than a horse. Wesnoth sprites are not limitated to 72x72 pixel. The red dragon shown in the first links is 115x115. You should try the campaign A Rough Life to see it in game.

I've just drawn a quick sprite to show you what size you might use :
Big dino is big.

It's a 100x100 sprite.

I can't do more for a stegosaur as the left button of my mouse does not work any more and I am not used to draw sprites with a tablet.
(Feel free to reuse/improve it)

I say you should systematically reuse feufochmar's base for all your other dinos, it has the good SE angle.

I myself was unsure exactly what sort of creature that was supposed to be. I'll go with my gut on it though, which tells me it is a mutated crossbreed of an elephant and a couple different dinosaurs. :P

Funny, I found a thread on the forum just today, where the art developers were all discussing the size of the dragon in ARL. Ultimately, they decided 90x90 looked best because it didn't cover up the other units that way.
Personally, I don't like your sprite as a stegosaurus. However, it does work rather nicely as an outline for some bigger dinosaurs, like this one:

I do know that stegosaurus is (was) much bigger in real life, but they were quite small in comparison to the Ultrasaurus, Supersaurus, and Brachiosaurus. Plus it looks better to have those smaller IMHO.

The Diplodocus is more similar to grey and brown...

I don't now for any red dinosaur :P

The thing is, from all the dinosaurs all which is left are some bones and foot prints. So all colors seen in depictions are guesses.

But many scientists agreed that the dinosaurs would have the similar colors to the modern reptiles, so I guess a green or a gray dinosaur seem more real than a red dinosaur. :hmm:
