That is quite nice. See the core units for chain. Now it doesn't look like a chain at all. (I assume there's a chain linked to the steelball). The balls are bit cubic. You could try to round them by using different shades of dark gray at the edges. Also check out the tutorial for making shadows. Now it is blurry and the balls cast no shadow.

The legs seem to have different color than the torso. Almost looks like pants.

I read it as crouching, in which case, the legs would be shaded by the upper body, so having them a bit darker makes sense. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure they're positioned correctly for either standing or crouching. Still, better than I could do! :)

I think the main problem might come from the outline. I'm going to guess you took a frankentstein base or something with pants, and, well, the outline looks like the sprite has pants, although the colours don't. It's too dark, maybe a bit too wide and squarish, and it feels like there's "pant border" or something over the foot. Sorry if I lack better vocabulary :?

I really have trouble picturing out your War Queen, I think she lacks definition overall. Especially her raised arm... If it is even an arm? I was hesitation between that and some kind of staff. It's all kinda blurry and unclear to me, anyway. Also, doesn't a War Queen wields a weapon?

Walking war queen: Try adding clear border line to the weapon and the raised hand. Add some drop shadows (by hand) over the body under the arm. Add some borderlines to that arm.
It might be bit weird that a unit becomes a rider when rising a level...

The little lady with white dress looks quite good. The bump on the right is bit unclear. Is it an elbow, shoulder, boob..? Most likely there should be a similar bump on the other side too.

I don't know if others agree, but I think you should start by making making some units and figuring out their possible problems by yourself. When you manage to make a good looking unit, then post it here, hear the crits and focus on that one unit before making new ones (with same problems).
