Art for Wose Faction
]I'm not sure if anyone has tried to do this before and I'm not the best on digital artwork but I've been thinking about a faction of Woses and if it would be appealing to anyone.
So far I've mostly been changing colours of units as far as art goes and giving them basic magical attacks. Both of them are supposed to be alternate level ups from the normal wose. It's just been fun but I think there's something to work on here. Feedback?

Re: Art for Wose Faction
I think the winter wose could have no leaves. It'd look more winterish. (just my opinion though)

And have you looked at reference for autumnal colours? They're not that bright and saturated...

Re: Art for Wose Faction
I did think about having no leaves on the Winter Wose but then it looks to similar to the undead wose variation, I much rather just having snow fall on it. Thanks for the advice on the Autumn though I'll probably change that.
I did use the undead wose variation on another test. Firefall Wose? It supposed to be the level after Autumn as the both have fire abilities. Looks pretty tacky though. Also another idea, wose variation as like a scout. I was thinking something small like a shrub.
Level 1 Level 2

Besides, if anyone wanted to do something like this using colour-shifting only, it probably wouldn't require new images in the first place since you could just shift the palette with WML.
Re: Art for Wose Faction
TC won't work in the small wose because it's blurred.

Re: Art for Wose Faction
There is a Wose Sapling available in tRoW, anyway, which is better done than that, and works.

Re: Art for Wose Faction
I re-did the Autumn one. Not sure how better it looks. Looks fine to me.
Also, anyone got comments on the whole idea on a faction for the woses cause I'm still not sure if it's worth pursuing.
As far as downloading TRoW. Anyone have a link for that? I can't seem to find it and I wouldn't mind looking at those sapling sprites. Also, anyone got comments on the whole idea on a faction for the woses cause I'm still not sure if it's worth pursuing.

It's one of the campaigns shipped with the main game.

Re: Art for Wose Faction
Just wondering: why are most of the red leaves in the back? As a suggestion, try to evenly distribute them throughout the foliage.

Hahaha. Aren't I a silleh daffa.
The red leaves are all in the back cause on the normal wose it has dark green ones there. That's just how it turned out. Might try that though. Or I might just get rid of them.

Re: Art for Wose Faction
The scout is OK (though looks a bit like an old hippie), but the concept of armoured wose is all wrong, the woses are completely non-technical race. A rough wooden club might do, but metal shield and sword look totally out of place.

Although there have been those who wonder about the suitability of such a weapon.Sgt. Groovy wrote:A rough wooden club might do
More seriously, even if you were going to slap armor on a wose, what would it be made of? Currently it looks as though someone doused the wose in grey paint. Adding the appropriate texture would give the impression of chainmail, which is really the only way you could have armor on a wose's lower trunk and still have them able to move about on their roots.

Re: Art for Wose Faction
Yeh the Armoured Wose was more of just me mucking around. Hahaha i pretty much just did douse it in grey paint. I totally agree that they should be non-technical though, I hate the idea of having woses with swords and shields. I'm not even a fan of them having a club. Just wouldn't fit. They have giant arms for a reason so lets make them use them. Also suggestions on fixing up the scout? I'm down for suggestions.
