Comments would be appreciated (proportions, colors), especially about the armor and feet. There's still some shading to correct on his arms and legs.

Dixie: This sprite doesn't match the other Ninja sprites, is it possible to accept something like this, or should I recolor him to black-and-white-and-magneta (the way the other Ninjas are done)?

Edit: There's no TC yet, I'll add some TC-colored details.

he´s facing the wrong way,but the light is coming from the wrong side so a flip would fix this, and the legs look pillowshaded. I think you need a bit bigger head as well.

Oooh, interesting sprite, Kanapka! It's ok for the colour, I wouldn't have done them black and white either. Curious to see how the sword turns out! Don't forget it's a katana (curved). Head also seems mostly OK to me, I guess. And a bit of TC would of course be welcome :)

Keep it up!

If you see no mistakes, this one would be done.

Hmmm, I,m not sure, maybe a better artist could give better advice, but there are three things that are vaguely bothering me:

1) The sword I'd have liked thinner, more curved, and possibly without a guard (the cross thing on the hilt). Think more katana.

2) It occurs to me that maybe he is holding his weapon a bit high. I'm not fencer or anything, but would you really hold a sword next to your head like that? Would it look better if he held it like 4-5 pixels lower?

3) The previous non-tc version of his arms and legs looked more defined, now they look more blurry. I think you could use darker TC shades for these parts' outlines.

Katanas have guards (small, but still). I need the guard to show where the blade ends. I'll try to make it smaller and make the sword thinner. This image was used for reference, and you can see that the weapon isn't very curved, and at this angle the curve will disappear. When you mentioned it I noticed that the sword is facing some other way on the sprite, that needs fixing.
You are right about the sword position, it should be further away. I had problems with drawing hands and hilt and didn't pay attention to where the sword will end up. Thanks for pointing out.
I'll see into the tc-contrast thing.

Agreed katanas aren't THAT curved. But they're sprites, and you need to exagerate stuff a bit for it to show well (imho) - think comics or caricatures. Actually, the sword you drew, while really cool, makes me think "claymore" or "broadsword" rather than "katana", especially so since it looks thick and double-edged, partly conveyed by the fact that the point differs vastly from your reference's (it's pointy) :hmm:

Anyway, not saying this to bring you down, I really like the costume and head, don't give up! :)

Got the curve, pointy end, more contrast on tc, better sword position.

You were right about the sword looking a bit like a claymore, the way he's holding it is more medieval-claymore-holding than samurai-katana-holding.

its good, but the katana usually doesnt have a pointy end like that one,but looks like its cut off at the top, under an angle, like in this pic

Vranca: If I make the end less pointy, it looks like it's missing the tip.

I feel something about his position is wrong, but I don't know what. Apart from that, he looks too similar to L1. I want to make parts of his armor more black (like the helmet). The bigger sword is copied from Swashbuckler and need adjusting.

Any comments will be appreciated.

and this:
kendo_banner.png

Which one do you prefer?
The banner is not perfect yet, and I need some comments and tips how to make it better.

dipseydoodle: There are two Gunner sprites by Vranca, one mounted and one unmounted cowboy by Aura, and a Cowpunch, I think it's yours. In IME main thread there's an unit tree, you can match what's done to empty slots and draw the rest.

Edit:
That's not what I had in mind, but it looks cool. I've redrawn the non-banner sprite the same way using the old color scheme. If you think it looks better, I'll do the same thing to the L1. If Vranca's colors are better, I'll redraw both sprites.
