They turned out fine, but you forgot to add the transparency to the shadow and background.

artisticdude, what do you think about helping Monroid with the transparency? I think that'd be a great help to him. Also, because I shamelessly need sprites for the Bladesman in this particular scenario. So, yeah. The faster the better. Not trying to rush you or anything, I'm just sayin'

Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
Sure, I can just run them through PSE and transparantize them all in under a minute. But -yawn- I'll see to that tomorrow. Oh, and before I forget, I made a few minor changes to the sage baseframe. Nothing drastic, just fixed the shading in a few places. I'll upload it tomorrow, since I'm currently posting from my iTouch.

Ah, now the shaman/sage looks like a goblin, not like a black orc.
Just for a reminder; It is not necessary to make the unit bigger on every level. Other methods to display higher level include more TC, more details, more decoration and bigger items.

Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
Mmm... perhaps I should hang around on IRC a bit more than I do currently... anyways, here's the final baseframe for the sage. I mainly edited his left sleeve, since the old shading made it look rather flat, and the light source wasn't really defined that well.

Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
hey artisticdude, I made Monroid's sprites transparent, but the shadow looks funny. Also, the TC for the Mounted Goblin isn't right. Do you think you could help me fix it? Thanks.

Goblin Champion?... oh, and the animations will come soon, sorry for all the trouble with the shadows and transparency, I'm still learning
Oh, and do you have any "special requirements" for the Lv2 and 3 Prinak?

Monroid, you're doing great, don't worry about it. About the Champion sprite, I'll attach that here tonight, so anyone can edit it if they wish. And Prinak lvl 2 and 3 are similar to the Goblin Knight and and Direwolf Rider just he has a spear (just like the lvl 1).

Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
The problem with the shadows is that they are required to be 60% transparent. I added that transparency and fixed the TC (I might have missed a few pixels, but I haven't had time to check it).elvish_sovereign wrote:hey artisticdude, I made Monroid's sprites transparent, but the shadow looks funny. Thanks so much!
Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
I managed to make my stuff's background transparent! But I still don't know how to make the shadows translucid... I use Paint.NET, any tips?
Well, here's the edited bladesman with his fixed hand and a rough animation for him
Next I'll edit the animation if this motion is good enough and then I'll finish Prinak's meelee and ranged

Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
Cool. I'm not an artist, but I've read through a good part of both the Art Contributions and Workshop threads. Taking from them, it seems that the animation has the same problem as a couple of them: only the active element is moving. I'm not talking about the leg, but the body needs to move with attack as well. As they say, refer to the thug's melee animation? I think that's the right unit. Anyhow, it looks nice otherwise.
Re: Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
I think it's because it is still made out of "sticks", don't worry, he will twist his body to follow the motion of the swing
Here's lv 2 Prinak, I still need help with the shadows
(what about the scar? Does it stay or go? )
