Re: E-ville

Post by Darker_Dreams »

"Energy shield" I've been working on for a bit. It was inspired by the shield for the ancient lich (and is nominally for the lich lord), but the bell-jar shape of that always bugged me, so I decided I wanted something shaped different...

I also redid the archlich in an attempt to capture the intent better (and less cheezily- though, yes, all I'm doing is frankenstiening so there's always going to be cheese and I'm not really sure how to get past a certain level of cheese on this one in general... eh, if it conveys the idea.)

dodad I've been working up for another sprite. the first one is flat-on angle, the second is me trying to get it in line with wesnoth sprites. I'm still trying to get part of what's in the first into the proper angle, so obviously that one isn't complete.

Yes ... That Archlich It's ... It's ...

But for "Energy Shield" the bubble is not she too small ?
I think you must to inspire you (at least for the size) of the bubble shield of elves (Sylph, sorcerer...).

For the animation, could you put it on a dark or medium background, like a cave castle for example ?

I actually checked and it contains everything but the shadow on the lich lord.
just for you though ;-)

I put the front-on one on a flat black background to see it better at one point. It'll be a bit before I get a chance to put any of them on any other background.

For the bubble to look more spherical, it needs more contrast. Right now it looks very flat.
My spritework can be seen here.

It's very slow, but I like it. It should be more like 100-150 ms in-between frames. The skull transform is a nice touch.

it's a few hexes of the grass put into gimp in a way that gives more context than just leaving him stationary.

Why does his face suddenly change from a skull to blackness-with-two-glowing-little-eyes in the last frame? That kinda threw me off a bit...

I really like that terrain, BTW... creepy dead grass kicks it. XD

there's actually an intermediate step where his face gets shadowed, but it's not showing up well. I'll have to consider.

I actually hadn't paid attention, but it is kinda nifty. Sadly, after a little bit poking around with it I've still got no clue what I did to get that particular color-shift. I'm a firm believer that Wesnoth needs more creepy terrain.
