Try lowering the hood on the second and third, so that the hood comes almost to the eyes.

Your scimitar is looking better, but I would get rid of that dark pixel on the left even still.

I like seeing the tops of their head. I would only reccomend lowering the hood on the third, to give a sly look.

Lower hood on the third one. No dark pixels in the scimitars and turned the first one into more bowie knife.

These rouges look great! You did a good job lowering the hood on the level three,
Is the hair hidden or covered by a black shadow on the level two and three, or did the hair change color? I find it hard to tell.

I came up with an idea of level 0 unit without any attacks, but regeneration and low XP demand for the next level. So I created some maggots. This is mainly a practice for creating units from scratch.

My plan is to make some variations of the heroic units so that they can be used in council-type scenarios with only dialogue. Any comments?

the sprite w/ spear is freaking cool.

Its' very cartoony, and more worm than maggot like. Also, it lacks texture.
My spritework can be seen here.

Some stripes, grayish color and less-cartoony 'face'. Is it better now? To me it looks quite a mess :P
edit: bit cleaner version

No mate, that's heaps better. Much better colors, more realistic in both shape and color in fact, and texture! Non existent in your first one, but in this one it's good.
I'm leaning towards the top one as being better. Looks much cleaner artisticwise, look dirty dirtwise.

Indeed. :D But it's bigger, so lets see more texture, and tonal contrast.

Don't know what kind of texture to add on it, but the tonal contrast looks great IMO. Did the same to the little fellow, but he looks very noisy compared to the bigger one.

Heeheehee, love the lil' maggots. :P They look a lot like the ones I used to... never mind. I had a taste for violence in my youth. These look very nice, but I feel there could perhaps be more shading towards the lower edge of the body, since the body is roughly cylindrical, correct?
