Re: Zero's Distinct Lack of Art Posts Until Now... Remedied

Post by enchilado »

Indeed. Quite amazing. His left leg looks slightly too long, though, and some ground detail or a shadow would help clarify that his right foot is in the air (at first I didn't realise, and wondered why it was drawn from a different perspective to the rest of the body). There appear to be a few lighting discrepancies, too - the front of his left foot and the spiky shield thing above it, for example.

He also looks like he's holding the sword by the end of the hilt, probably because there's so much of the grip above it. I suppose this is a two-handed sword, so there would be... I'm not familiar with the character, but some sort of pommel visible behind his arm might help.

You might also want to draw the inside of the spiky disk thing.

Absolutely no offense intended from this post, and, obviously, you are free to do whatever you want, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. However, I'm going to just go ahead and say this; perhaps it will do some good. Feel free to entirely ignore me.

You have incredible talent. It's obvious to everyone. But, in a way, it is "going to waste" because you use it to just draw random images that will never be put to good use by anyone. You could be so much more productive, and put your skills to much better use, if, instead of throwing sprites out into oblivion, you drew sprites for UMC projects. There are so many UMC authors who would be infinitely grateful if you helped them out with their art needs.

Again, I intend no offense, and I hope you take none. How you use your talent is up to you alone, and I have no intention of dictating what you should do. I just wished to share this suggestion, and I ask you to at least think about it. :)

There actually is an offsite project I'm working on with the help of others which is similarly voluntary like UMC work. All this stuff is work I do in the breaks between as a cooldown thing, so don't worry if I'm seeming slightly useless :P I'm also a lazy person frequently so bluh there.

Here's a preview of something I've been working on. This thing also sort of fits conveniently into Wesnoth style so you guys can use it as a boss-monster if the opportunity ever arises.

And lest anyone forget, I'm still working on these guys (among a whole lot of other things).

This is amazing artwork, I read the first page yesterday but forgot to look at the date and immediately wanted to ask to use them. now I see that was made 2 years ago and have to ask, are there any projects you have made but no one ever used them? I'm a beginner to wml and just need a custom sprite, but I am terrible at making them. anything will work I don't care how old it is

Grabbed some different sprites for you, pick whichever one you like. Most of my posted wesnoth-style work carries with it the hopes that people might find it useful in a future project someday anyways.

this is more a general question:

i wonder why none of your work in is the gfx-library.
(there is even no entry called "zerovirus")

is there no more bot skimming the forum for gfx ?

because if someone wants gfx for his cutom projects he is advised to look into the gfx library

Bingo. I thought there was a note in the page explaining the current (mid 2008-present) situation but it seems there’s not.

Well, I suggest you get your own thread for such announcements instead of using my thread- unless you're trying to leech of of my thread's popularity :P
