I don't really understand what the right hand is supposed to be. Multiple guns? A gun with exhaust ports (if so maybe you should change the color of the ports)? I think you could have a cooler, simpler effect by just going with a simple cylinder Megaman-esque gun.
It's pretty cool. I think the exhaust ports could be improved, though - maybe something to contrast them with the rest of the body.

Hi Zero,
I found your first Aetherguard and wanted to use it. I discovered that it was to large for Wesnoth. I rescaled it a bit keeping all features alive. I still used an old black and blure shadow. I created an everything animation (defense, attack, idle and if desired walk and stand ) Just wanted to share. It is still a huge unit. I did see more an animated spirit than a human fighter. I like your new shoulders!

What's that animation for again? Defense? Idle? He's just dancing around it seems. And you didn't use my complete version, the one that actually had hands!
Anyways.
Finally got the last Northguard upgrade finished. I like gigantic swords :3

I think the lvl 3 looks a bit weird: a bit like he has 2 hands splitting from the elbow because of the jewel on the hilt of the sword.

Honestly, you'd think people know by now that I use MS Paint which doesn't support Transparency. Ah well. Less work for the EotF team I suppose.
And I really don't see what you guys are saying. It's a gem. The arm does not go to the gem. What, should I increase highlights on the arm to better direct your vision?

Re: Zero's art. Gambit has this way of getting me to do art.
I have trouble reading the left hand position. Is his thumb behind or in front of the hilt?
But I think the gem is fine; I immediately saw it as a gem and not a second hand or something.

It does look slightly like an arm. Just change the shape of the cross guard.

I have GIMP. I rarely use it. I don't really need the other features that GIMP provides. Maybe if someday I get a tablet I'll delve into portraits, but until then...
And I suck at hands. >.> I'll figure out how mainline does it. Someday.

Actually I have computer tablet for CPE. It's not worth getting, it doesn't even feel like your hand drawing. For the hand they just make ball shaped hand most of the time. Maybe you should put the gem at the back of the sword.Zerovirus wrote:I have GIMP. I rarely use it. I don't really need the other features that GIMP provides. Also. Would you like me to redraw every shadow for you?
Re: Zero's art. Gambit has this way of getting me to do art.
Does it really matter with the shadows? I can do them myself with GIMP; however, I don't really have any use for most of them. The ones I make for UMC projects, the UMC authors will usually convert themselves. I don't make this stuff for use, really, I make it for fun =3
Putting the gem in the back of the sword is pretty much the same visual effect as removing it entirely. It's not there if you can't see it.
Ball shaped most of the time? Yes. But what about the rest of the time? I'm trying to get my hand technique up, which requires better understanding of minimal pixel interaction. How to get a 4-4 square to look like something incredibly complex yet elegantly simple. >.< I can only get a hand out around the size of that Aetherguard, and I'm trying to shrink my details down.

Re: Zero's art. Gambit has this way of getting me to do art.
Hands are tough, but you generally want to use the highlights to suggest either the line of the thumb or the line of the lowest joints on the fingers above the knuckles (or the knuckles themselves if they're closer to the viewer), or both if possible, and have a noticeable contrast between that line and the rest of the hand (i.e. the second lightest color is used fairly minimally)
I think you're more or less doing that though, and there really aren't many mainline hands that are better than yours. If there's a problem with the L3's left hand (our right), it's that the brightest line is vertical, and therefore doesn't actually follow the position of the fingers.
