The guantlets aren't the same color as the pants :hmm:. His pants are the same color as the armor, the guantlets are the same color as the boots (for I figured that they would use some skin as a substitute for leather). He's wearing gloves which is why the green goes up his arm. His hands seem pretty apparent to me.

Okay, on a very detailed look, I can see that they are indeed a different color than the pants and not the boots, but the color is so close that it makes it seem as if it is one.

Here's the councilman from a few pages back. The hands are in the wrong place, but the shoulder is right. Try moving the shoulder on your version down a few pixels to match it. This will have an effect on where his elbow is.

Another thing that's worth mentioning is that it looks odd for the shadow to have the exact shape of the weapon. If you look at virtually every mainline unit, you'll not see a single shadow that isn't a relatively shapeless blob designed to suggest the shape of the unit above, rather than to follow it exactly.

i darkened the shell and tried my hand at shading. i used the colour of the top blob on the left for shading colours. The colour of the bottom blob is one that i could have used for the shell rather then brown. which colour is better: the current or the bottom blob? also, hows my shading?

i know the shell doesn't go down far enough on the tutle: i'll fix that later.

we might have to vote on which council member image line to use: these two look completely different.

i can see the hand, but it would be better if the colours didn't almost merge. The sea dwarves don't all have to wear almost one colour just because they hunt that animal. they can hunt other animals or dye the scales. or use a kind of undersea plant to weave clothes like kelp.

srry if you couldn't sea the picture before : i forgot to put it on.

Koopa!

Shells are usually smooth. Get a highlight tone to represent that smooth shinyness on the shell.

We can all tell the head is from the drakes XD. Get a custom head. The styles really clash.

The head is fine. We aren't great artists. Pretty much every one of our sprites are frankenstiened, except for some of some sprites.

In other news, I've tried to fix the councillor, not sure if his trident is still to big. Darkend the gloves a bit as well.

Wesfreak, this can be that level three unit that branches off from the councillor line if all else fails.

I also tried to make the harpooneer (level 1) and the first of the ocean apprentice (level 1) line thing, which I'm not sure how it came out. Well anyway, here they are.

turtles shells are rough. sea turtle shells are smooth, to let the turtle be more hydrodynamic. This is not a sea turtle. If should be though, but if it was then it would have to have flippers. also: this is the era of the future. who says drakes don't evolve into turtles? I like the head and it stays.

the ocean apprentice is perfect, the harpooners gun is only a little bit too long and the councillar trident is better, but still a bit too big.

It is a sea turtle, and thus should have flippers.

The gun is just the darker part, the harpoon itself will come out of the gun.

Also, the ocean dude, he'll get a hammer in his later levels. We'll say they're experimenting with water runes and it's easier to use the runes when they're on a staff.

I've already made the trident smaller I just haven't posted the image yet, I'll do so later tonight when I'm not feeling so lazy :P.

i think the ocean apprentice and the harpooneer is fine. the ocean apprentice line can't have hammers because their melee attack is a staff. i'll mwait to put them in until tomorrow(hopefully we'll have more to add then.

Hammers and staffs are both impact, and staffs don't really work with dwarves that well. If no-one thinks hammers would be better then I'll continue making staffs though.

Also, what weapon would the apothecary line have? A Knife?

 i know about the harpoon gun/harpoon. the gun itself is a bit too long, in my opinion, as is the harpoon.

now i have to make the shell flatter and add flippers. and make the shell look smooth.
