Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits
Okay... it's more noticeable. This is going to sound very silly... does the color look natural? It doesn't look that way to me, but that might be because Firaeth'nar's never had brown hair before.
-Edit-
I just realized I forgot to change her eyes to blue again... so since I haven't done anything with them yet, should they be blue, brown, or green?

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits
Lathadarë got a redo since he's an elf... and Kitty has pretty much made the elves really awesome and the original portrait became obsolete.
Besides, Kristin did an amazing job on the new Lathadarë. So... comments? Suggestions? Does he look like he'll fit in with the rest of the elves?

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
his right arm (on our left) looks odd. better fix the musculature on that.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
I think the colors are about right, one can tell he is supposed to be part of the same elf-world.
Maybe you could curve down the outer edge of his right shoulder pad, so it was more like the one on his left. And raise the inner edge. That might help with the musculature issue, or at least obscure it.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
I'm not quite sure what possessed me at 1:00 in the morning to color the leather green... but yeah... it's brown now. Hehe.
Is his arm better?
And is there anything else that needs fixing? Thanks!

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
Well it still looks tiny compared to the other arm... mostly because of the incorrect shading, though.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
If possible, could you explain this incorrect shading? I'm not seeing it. I'm also not seeing how the arm is tiny, but if the two are linked, it might help me out.
That said, I asked two artists and they think it looks fine. So... I might keep it as is, unless you can show me what's up with the shading.
Thanks for the input.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
Darkness tells the eye that there is depth, and light tells the eye that something is raised.
So your eye is telling you that arm is nearer to the viewer than the armor adjacent to it, even though your mind knows this must not be true.
So there is an optical illusion of "tiny arm," which could be corrected with shading. Unfortunately, I'm not a good enough artist to tell you how to best fix it. I just know enough to spot something where my eye tells me does not look quite right.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
Maybe if you made the top of his arm less bright. Here's a quick example of what I would do (but then, I don't always do the right thing).

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Lathadarë
Ah, thanks guys. I see now. My non-artistness is beginning to show up.
I'm thinking this looks much better. What does everyone else think? Thanks.
-Edit-
Here's the first draft of a maskless Syeh. I'll gladly take any comments or suggestions.

Re: The Raven's Wings Portraits: Syeh
Right, so that's more or less all the portraits for now. Now we're heading into spritework, of which I am definitely not an expert. I drew the hunter (Varabran) two years ago. It's the one that needs the most work, especially since it's the main character. All comments are appreciated, as usual. Thanks.

Re: The Raven's Wings Artwork: Hunter Sprite
His arms are too small and the spear is in an awkward position, maybe flip it horizontally.
I think I see what you were trying to do with the head & hood, but it looks like you ran out of room. I suspect he'll need a bigger head.

Firaeth'nar's left breast looks a lot higher than her right one.

@ Irrevenant - Thanks for the input. Is this better? Anything else that needs to be fixed?
@ Doofus01- I'll get to the hunter sprite soon enough... I think I'll just completely redo him. It'd probably be easier than trying to fix the current sprite. Thanks for the input!

Here's the hunter completely redone. There seems to be something awkward about it... so comments are appreciated as usual.
Thanks.
Thanks.
