Hero of the Shards (Frankensteined Unit)

Post by scienceguy8 »

I have played Battle for Wesnoth for some time now, and I have now decided to try to make my own campaign complete with a new race known as the Shards. This would be their leader. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm planning on changing a few of the colors later on. A description of the Shards will be posted later if anyone is curious.

It doesn't look bad, but look at his hands, he seems to not hold correctly the pole.
You may also want to put something sharp at the pole.

Also the lights are wrong. In the head the light comes form right and in his legs to light comes from left.

That's #1 of a series of problems that come with frankensteining.

others are: animations;
franken-packs are just cheap cuts of the images. Sometimes they aren't even cut correctly.
A decent pack of frankenstein-tiles would afford alot more, well-done work.

Or does it highlight a problem with the existing art? Since all units face the same way, presumably the lighting should be the same for all of them?

While it's a possibility, I wouldn't rule out that the frankensteiner mirrored parts without thinking to fix the shading, which seems the more likely cause until they say otherwise.

I don't think that's so much a problem, since the units can face different directions anyway.

Here is a little something explaining about the Shards. It also explains why the hero's staff lacks any weapon head.
