Giant Faction

Well this is my real first attempt at making a race of giants.
My art needs a little more work before it will look nice. I know im my worst judge but i need outside opinions as well.
Thanks wayfarer for help so far.

Faction of Giants
1. Giant Archer
2. Giant Warrior
3. Slave
4. Slave Master(Task Master)
5. Pet(gargoyle, cocatrice, roc)
6. Cave Troll
7. Ogre
8. Ogre Mage



I'm going to make the giants neutral and ogres chaotic. Slaves are captives of the giants so they are going to be level 0 units. And Slave master is a level 1 evo of slave.

The cave troll is not going to have regeneration as normal trolls do. Instead im going to give them quicker speed and jmore resistance..

The problem is that they must fit in ohne hex.
Morever, I advise that Catharge should be destoyed.

Pretty good start for a beginner.

So black lines to separate different parts of the unit is bad. Smooth it and use some slightly darker color from the original color.

The left arm is a little to straight and the rock looks a little bit flat.

Too big, which should be rather obvious.

I also wonder why everyone tries to make factions and complete races. Why not just create single monster units or something like that? That would be a goal all these faction-makers could actually accomplish, instead of failing with 95% certainty when trying to make a full playable faction (or something similar) of them.

They are giants so i was trying to make them a little big. 72x72 is the image size will that not fit?

Should i reduce them in size?

Sometimes I would check what I'm saying.

Neorice new wooses are bigger and fit the hexes.

For the second if you don't make terain, portraits or animations the chance is higher to get a hit by a thunderbolt that something get's added to mainline.

Okay..nice trace over. The hill giant is off....So i will probaly redo it.
Here is my fre giant rough draft. These are not final..Plan on tweaking them as time goes by..

Here is a gargoyle which i will use to replace the cocatrice..
They are considered to be pets of many giant races.

Why are you stealing monsters from Dungeons and Dragons?

There's an incredibly rich mythology of giants in the form of the Jotun of Norse mythology. That's where all of this comes from anyway.

Has someone said that I like your or JW's eras? I don't think I have. :D But yeah, they are probably the only ones (maybe extended era too, never tried that but AFAIK it's just where all the random factions without a home get tossed into) that I don't consider failures, even though they're still AFAICT very WIP.

WIP, yes, but fully playable. ;)


Anyway, to get back on topic -


A race of giants is an interesting idea, but I don't see how it could work. Giants are MUCH more powerful than even a troll. The only way you could really have level 1 Giant units would be to have them start out as children and get bigger - a decent-sized giant would be at least a level 2. Thing is, you can do that with trolls and ogres, because they're uncivilized bastards, little more than beasts - it's a stretch, but they might actually send their children into battle. With giants, I just can't see them sending children into battle. And if they don't send children into battle, you would really have to start all of the unit lines on level 2...

In sum, I think a race of giants is an interesting idea, but not as a faction. They would be good as a campaign enemy, maybe.

I disagree. You are trying to add some sortof foundation to a fantasy world. Who says that giants are more powerfull than trolls. If you compare them to drakes you get a reasonably decent match. Drakes are dragons?

Giants moves slower hit harder and have poor defense since they are so big. That are just so large anyone can hit one. How can you miss a 10ft tall giant? And like drakes they are a bit more pricey than your normal faction like the northerners.
