New Faction: The Saracens

Greetings

Last october I had a little brainwave that I wanted to create a new faction based on the armies of the Caliphate in the 11th~12th Century. Over the past couple months the Mp Devs and Xan have been working on this project and we thought that we would unveil what we have on it.

Up front, we would like this faction to be added into the mainline default.... and have balanced the units to that effect. We've created units that are both unique and interesting to play with. This faction's theme will be that it does not have magic, but a clever balance of units that will enable it to fight the other default factions.

Some standouts include:
A true horse archer
A lvl1 healer
a true mixed fighter (equal ranged and melee attack)
A markmanship melee heavy fighter
And a couple of other ideas.

Really nice set...

The 2nd level plain archer need some more stuff to make him a bit diferent from 1st level one (maybe adding a few metal studs to his clothes/leather armour or a small golden/silver pin in the headgear)

You can still see the tricks of different artist in some of your final units (a more Neoriceish unit here and more softer Jetrylish there) from the parts you borrowed. Not really important.

On the stats side the spearman 1st level melee markmanship seems a bit overpowered.

Do you mind if I/somebody else move this to art contribution forum?
These units are not official and IMHO this part of the forum should be reserved to the official version.

Well, they are, in a sense. The Saracens are going to be (eventually) added to the Default era.

(I'm in favor of that happening sooner rather than later, BTW. The sooner it is done, the more exposure the saracens get, and thus the quicker they will improve...)

Does the archer upgrade into two different units? Or does the axeman? If the axeman, it seems odd that he completely switches weapons. If the archer, the change in color is really abrupt.

1] I've told you again and again, you need to follow the methodology I pointed out for doing chain mail. You're doing an ... ok ... job on the chest armor, but you need to apply this to the coifs as well, and you also need to increase the contrast.

2] Make the heads bigger. Right now many of these are some 2-3 pixels too thin. Neorice could really give you some lessons here.
