Re: Vilkai Art Thread

It looks great!

I do think the fireball looks a bit out of place, and maybe a sword (my mind jumps to a longer sword) wouldn't be the ideal weapon for the spirit of a Vilkai ancestor... perhaps you had a shorter sword in mind. I dunno... what would a ghost use? Ethereal fire that burns just like real fire? I personally don't think a ghost should be able to conjure actual flames, but I'm just not very imaginative

The sprite itself does look more ethereal. Good job on that! The top half looks a bit solid, but I'm not sure exactly what you had in mind.
One foot in my mouth, and one in the grave; that's the way I like it, and that's the way it'll stay.

A little update. They could use fire claws, similar to the arcane claws Ferals use. They are former vilkai, why shouldn't they use similar techniques.. just with fire in this case.
Ranged attack could be a fire lance, which is formed when attacking.

Here's an attempt with L2.

Like the missile of the L1 mage maybe? Pretty sure it is not actual fire, but still does fire damage.

wip from forefather (L3 from Spirit). Fire is missing yet and there is a lot of space for improvements, but anyways.

Feel free to comment! Any ideas/suggestions? (:

Edit:
With fire

Looks great! :D I think you should add some ragged cloth at the bottom, though, for extra ghost-iness.

I'm working on a new Gargoyle version for the vampire faction right now. I Intend to make them more of an actual living beeing instead of a jinxed statue.

Here is a concept. Now I need to find the right colours..

Edit:
Maybe something like this:

I think the concept is cool and the colours are totally okay (maybe could be a little bit blueish).
Not very active on the forum anymore, but I still read it, and I also still play Wesnoth and draw a bit.

But Gargoyles are statues. I agree that they don't have to be as unmoving as before, but I think your version is too lively. The colours don't look stony enough in my opinion.
His left wing seems strange to me. I know It's mostly because of the angle, but it's still weird. If I were you, I would make the wings more symetrical instead of having the wing orthogonal to the drawing board.

I do need help with those wings. No clue how to draw them.

Another iteration, though. Used the skin tone of the trolls. Wings should have skin tones, too.
I'd let the gargoyle turn into stone (petrify) during the day ingame.

I can't really draw wings either, but I've made a few versions and rather put them out here than just delete them. Maybe it helps.

Drake wings don't really fit either. :hmm:

@Vyncyn, Second looks quite good.

Maybe Bat wings would make a good base:

I think you should make the bat wings on the gargoyle have a color closer to the skin tone for realism.

I spend the last two hours to completely redraw a basic vampire - exept for the head and colour palette.
And, well, it's surprisingly similar to the current ones...

Was pondering about a new bowman. Is someone in here who likes to draw bows? :|
