Also, it is preferred that each member uses a single WML Workshop thread, rather than one thread per question, so I am merging this with your previous threads.
Increasing the layer? How do I do that?

Merging with my other threads? I have many threads in this forum topic :twisted: . Good luck, finding them all.... :)

The layer is -89; try changing that.

Thanks, but I don’t need luck — time and experience will serve instead.

Edit: That was easy. You had “only” nine. Two weeks ago I’d have thought that a great quantity, but now it seems a paltry one.

Should I increase or decrease the layer value?

And, wow, merging 34 threads! Unbelievable. :D

Increase, to move it above the mountains.

Sure, the campaign will load just fine with them. Then again, the campaign would also load just fine if instead of

Code: Select all

    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
you had

Code: Select all

    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}

    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
    {~add-ons/The_Legend_Begins/images}
Why should you include something only once, when you can include it a dozen times without causing a problem?

Well, including it just once is enough, rather than spamming one's _main.cfg file with this. :lol2:

Now, how do make the terrain transitions better? Should I copy/edit some transitions from mainline castles?

Enough for what? The single line has just as much effect as the eleven lines you think are excessive. That's the point -- you laugh at using twelve lines when one line accomplishes the same thing. Well, you should also laugh at using one line when using no lines accomplishes the same thing.

Edit: In other words, including it never is better than spamming one's _main.cfg file with this useless line.

Copying all the mountain macros from the core terrain graphics and placing them before your castle definition will work, but it's not exactly a nice way to do things.

Changing layers doesn't help much here. You could move the layer of the walls higher by redoing the wall macros, but they're as high as they can go without covering units, so you'd just see other problems. This might properly be viewed as a bug in the terrain graphics macros—either the mountains or the walls need to have their base (not layer) adjusted to avoid this issue in which the order they are declared matters.

It has worked :D Thanks, folks.

Now, let's move on my other WML problems. Still can't get the charm ability to work... :hmm: :augh:

Okay, I need help again.

I'm trying to store specific units in a side's recall list. Then clear the variable.
Function
To carry hero and loyal units to the next scenario, while dismissing non-loyals.

Problem
No non-loyal units seem to be missing...

You have [store_unit] attributes (kill=yes, variable=regulars) in [store_unit][filter].

Also, why not simply [kill] the regulars, rather than kill-storing them into a variable and then clearing the variable?

Firstly, I am well aware that I am resurrecting a four-year-old forum topic. However, the purpose of this topic was to address the WML-related problems I face while coding. Hence, I saw no point in recreating another topic.

Now, to my current problem:
Screen Shot 2017-04-30 at 21.59.38.png
Using text-edit, I filtered out the bugged line:

Code: Select all

{STORY_CHARACTER_PART "portraits/drakes/transparent/flameheart.png" ( _ "Karri Kon") ( _ "Once the orcs have been exterminated, their lands will be unoccupied. We can divide them among us.")}
Why is this giving me an utter headache?
I can't seem to figure out how this leads to a quoted string error. Is this because of the "? My text-editor had this automatic feature of replacing " with ". :augh: :augh: :augh:
I disabled the feature and retyped the whole thing using the normal ". The problem persists.

Resources:
Download the Unreleased version of Hero of Irdya I and War of Legends (1.1.7+) from the trunk add-on server and install them manually. In-game installation is not currently feasible since access to the Trunk add-on server via client seems to be disabled. (Someone should look into that).

TO BE UPDATED: I will post github links to the files as soon as I get my accounts (both of them) linked with my new MacBook Pro.

Well there's another quote of the wrong type, two lines above that one.
