[endlevel] questions

Postby opensourcejunkie » January 24th, 2009, 5:59 pm

Hey, I'm converting some code from 1.4 to 1.5, and I'm running into some interesting dialogue boxes when I try to pull a continue_no_save. Here's my code:
Code: Select allExpand
        [endlevel]
            result=victory
            #result=continue_no_save
            bonus=no
            carryover_report=no
            save=no
            linger_mode=no
        [/endlevel]

It seems that no matter what I change, I get a message that says "Game Over", and then one that asks if I want to continue the game. Does anyone know what I need to change in the above code to get wesnoth to proceed neatly from one scenario to the next?

Thanks for any help,

sounds like it could be a bug.

is there supposed to be a "game over" message at all? I don't remember seeing that in 1.4.

The same thing has happened to mine since I converted to 1.5.x even though the code is much simpler.
Code: Select allExpand
        [endlevel]
            result=continue
            next_scenario=3_Over_the_River
        [/endlevel]
It was fine in 1.4.x, and I have no idea what to do so far. I need some helps for that, too if it is not just a bug of 1.5.8.

I think I'll check & see if any bug reports were put into Gna!. This seems like the kind of thing that lots of WML authors would have noticed.

Um, interesting. I have had no problems with [endlevel] in the whole 1.5.x line.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to happen with normal result=victory/defeat code. I got SkyOne to send me his campaign to use as an example of the alleged bug (mine's too big to post on the forum/gna); here's the offending code from his second scenario:
Code: Select allExpand
        [endlevel]
            result=continue
            next_scenario=3_Over_the_River
        [/endlevel]

I'm pretty sure the code is correct; he said it worked fine in 1.4. My best guess is that result=continue is somehow conflicting with the new key values, although however I put things together, I still get that annoying "Game Over" dialogue (which doesn't actually end the game ;-)

One thing that should probably be noted is that in both Sky's code and my own, the [endlevel] is being placed inside of a start event; i.e. they're both all-speaking scenarios. I don't know if that's pertinent, but I figured I'd mention it.

I've attached Sky's campaign, cued to the scenario with the offending code, in case anyone wants to see what we're talking about. If the error's on our end, please feel free to set us straight :-).
