So, you want to post in this forum?
The Developers’ Discussions forum is intended to be restricted to those who are part of the development team, or forum members who have proven to be responsible members of the board for discussion of ideas without the noise that can be caused by some of the less mature forum members.
As a result, it has a much less frequent posting rate, and in practice most discussion of ideas goes on elsewhere. An idea posted in other forums may get “promoted” to the developers forum if a dev likes it and considers implementing it. Often when this happens, if the proposer is not someone who already can post in the developers forum, and has not generally annoyed people, they will be given the permissions necessary to post to the developers forum (usually as a forum regular) so that they can continue to be part of the discussion.
Occasionally, someone who has been promoted to forum regular gets that privilege revoked if they are too obnoxious.
The other route to gaining access to the developers forum is by becoming a regular contributor to the game. Contributors who are particularly active and display a sense of responsibility may become developers. It should be noted that most of the serious (often boring but necessary) nitty gritty discussion of the development goes on in the
