The Elder Scrolls approach serves to emphasize the differences between races of humanity, and the difference between a Nord and a Breton is less than the difference between a Nord and an Orc or a Breton and a High Elf in that system, and let's not delve too deeply into the implications of making some races smarter than others. :augh: It seems that Irdya more closely resembles Earth in that the human races are functionally similar, and additionally there's enough mixing that it's not so clear-cut (also like the real world), so I'd prefer to keep them under one main umbrella loosely categorized by culture groups, thus Human -- Wesnothian, Human -- Islefolk, etc. Let's keep in mind that the reason for dividing the races is for the units' randomly generated names, so they're not so much based on skin tone or physical features as they are on cultural and linguistic differences coinciding with a shared history.
It's spelled "definitely", not "definately". "Defiantly" is a different word entirely.
