I don't think i get it. You mean something like this?

Cause with that where's his face supposed to go? Or eyes. Whatever.
When I think of something like that i can see it becoming a pile of stuff on the floor when it's on land and then when it enters the water it stretches out upwards and the majority of it is underneath the water surface.

I didn't get that bit. What did you mean?

Something like this 10 second sketch.

Longer. Ribbon-like. Joined together at the bottom, twining itself into a vaguely humanoid shape when it needs to, otherwise staying more like natural kelp for the purposes of ambush.

And I was bored, so feel free to run with this concept for the Strangler. I probably won't take it much further at this point, mainly because it would eat time, and I have more important jobs. Obviously, all the bits would be the same colour in a final version (light tan sort of colour), but this makes them easier to distinguish.

I personnally thought the main issue with your kelp was its humanoid shape. Since kelp is supposed to be long columns, maybe you could make it snake-like. In water, it could erect straight ("column" like) and on land, it could all fall to the ground and curl up or something, like a snake. Tsi's alternative ain't bad either ;)

So I take it he's meant to be very wood-like rather than having a lot of foliage. Well when
I can be bothered I'll try them both out. Thanks heaps for that. :D

Yeh I'm thinking I might use that one as a L2 for the Wose Shrub cause it's very bush-like. And then for an alternate, how well would a rose bush go?
We could have the Walking Shrub as like the "male" L2 and then have the Rose Wose as a "female" like L2. :hmm: Maybe.

Nah, i just didn't bother putting the leaves in. However, from my ref the foliage tends to be higher up.

Well I've completed the shading on the strangler. Personally I think it looks pretty sweat. :D Though the face looks kinda small and hard to make out. Should I make it lighter so it stands out more?
Also, what is the foliage how is the foliage supposed to look. What type of tree are we looking at? What type of foliage are we talking about? I'd like to know so I can get it done.

I'd say it looks good, but you need to give it overall form shading - make the shadowed side significantly darker, and make it clear where the trunk meets the ground.

Foliage-wise... http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en ... =&gs_rfai=
Fairly similar to the mainline wose, but sparser.

Nice face, btw.

Alrightly. :D I've dimmed down his bottom left and given him some leaves around the place. Still not too sure about those dangley bits coming off his right and left branches. They're looking kinda strange for some reason. :hmm:

The 'dangley bits' are roots. The strangler fig is an epiphyte, it lands on trees then sends roots down to the ground. Sometimes, an established strangler fig will send roots down from its brnaches, that's what those were. I have to say looking back, I liked the way you did the hands first off - you could probably redo the hands to looks something like those instead of using mine.

I'd say a little more foliage. It's still lookign a little too sparse. But that sort of thing, rather than the thick bushy feel of the mainline woses. Distinction is useful.

Either you put some kinda fruits or colored leaves in its foliage, either you tie some ribbons around its branches. That's pretty much the usual for woses, I think :hmm: Nice sprite, anyhow :)
